We chat to Phillip Pearson, Chief Executive Officer at Orbital Fabrications. Congratulations Pip on being with Orbital now for 30 years.
Q: Orbital has over 30 years’ experience in orbital welding services and is an industry expert in stainless steel TIG welding and orbital tube welding. How have you seen the business grow within this time, what in your opinion is the key to Orbital’s success and growth?
A: The main reason for growth is a great workforce, supplying a first-class service to all customers, reinvestment back into the business, also allowing for additional expansion for future potential projects.
Q: Orbital delivers high purity systems for chemical and gases used within the Hydrogen, Aerospace, Medical, Semiconductor sectors amongst others, all sectors with fast changing demands. How does Orbital stay ahead of new developments and the competition?
A: At Orbital we always have a 5-year ongoing plan. We actively attend exhibitions and seminars, and we invest in digital marketing (website and social media) to attract future clients we feel we can create a partnership with, and deliver our complete turnkey and high-quality services. We are also actively involved in R&D with universities and new customers to create future ongoing contracts.
Q: Orbital prides itself on the level of service and experience it provides to its customers, how important is it to have a great team in place?
A: This is the most important area in a business, we pride ourselves on our team at Orbital and we are only as good as our last job, it takes years to gain a good reputation and one bad job to lose it, also look after your staff and treat them all with the same respect.
Q: Where do you see Orbital Fabrications in the next 5 years? What would success look like to you.
A: Continue with the same controlled expansion over the next 5 years and increase the profit margins and turnover to enable us to re-invest in our people, plant and services we provide. We want to ensure we safeguard our employees’ future and continue to guarantee the best results for our customers.
