Earlier this year, we at Orbital Fabrications were asked by Bronkhorst UK Ltd to design and fabricate a skid for mixing three gases, to be used for research purposes in an amine capture plant at The University of Sheffield’s Translational Energy Research Centre.

Beginning with a P&ID from the client, we designed the skid to their specifications, and went through an iterative process with them to refine the concept. The whole assembly was carefully modelled in SolidWorks, and manufacturing drawings were produced. Once everyone was satisfied, the skid moved through procurement and into production. Our highly-skilled welders assembled the frame, and then put together the pipework and components to be mounted onto the two back panels. All of the electrical components had their connections terminated within a junction box on the skid, and the completed assembly was pressure tested to ensure there were no leaks.

The finished product can be seen in the image above. If you or your business have a requirement for a gas skid like this, or a similar system, get in touch with us through our website – we’d love to speak with you!
