Orbital Fabrications is a market leader in orbital welding, specialist welding and assembly of gas and fluid handling systems. Based in St. Ives, they offer specialist services to a variety of clients within the medical, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, aerospace, chemical and allied industries.
Orbital recently extended its relationship within the medical industry by donating three IV stands to The City Hospital in Peterborough. These stands were given to the Cancer Community Nurses who treat patients in their own homes. The Peterborough Community Cancer nurses have been working even harder over the period of the pandemic to visit patients shielding in the community, taking the service to them. Their priority was to still provide excellent care to those patients.
The nurses were struggling however as they did not have sufficient, transportable equipment to carry out many of the patient treatments. After hearing that the nurses were having to use wire coat hangers to hang IV fluid bags over patients’ curtain rails or doors, Orbital’s team of engineers set to work to design and manufacture a bespoke stand.
